26 things I've learned in 2026
I've been reflecting on what truly helped me, and the people around me, grow this past year.
26 things I've learned in 2026
These 26 learnings made life feel lighter, more grounded, and more intentional. May a few find their way into your own story as this new summer begins.
1. Accept that everything is temporary
Every beautiful day, every heavy moment, every person you love is fleeting. Let that remind you to show up fully and hold the present with care.
2. You're allowed to change your mind
You don't have to stick with a version of yourself that no longer fits. Careers change. Relationships change. Dreams change. Let your life shift when you do.
3. Trust uncertainty
You don't need every answer to take the next step. Life has a way of surprising you with outcomes better than anything you could have planned.
4. Failing is learning. Learning is growth
Failing means you're trying. It's a natural part of life and often the fastest way to succeed. We learn more from what didn't work than from the wins we never question.
5. Let yourself be cringe
It's awkward until it isn't. It's embarrassing until it works. The things you want are usually on the other side of worrying what people will think.
6. One step at a time moves you farther
Doing everything at once only creates pressure and chaos. When you feel rushed, pause and get clear on your next step. One focused move gets you farther than ten stressed ones.
7. Show up for yourself, even at 5%
Some days you just don't have it in you, and that's okay. On the low ones, show up in a small way for what matters. It keeps you connected to the life you're building.
8. Check in with your emotions
Big reactions are often built from small, unspoken feelings. When you notice that something's off, pause and ask: 'How do I really feel right now, and why?'
9. Practice intentional solitude
Choose time alone on purpose. It's where you return to yourself, settle your mind, and find clarity before the world rushes in.
10. Have one daily ritual that anchors you
Write your intentions, take a midday walk, or meditate before bed. One simple ritual can ground you and make space for what matters.
11. Reflect before bed
Train your mind to see the good that's already here. Ask yourself 'What went well today?'
12. Prioritise your sleep
So much of feeling stressed, emotional, or unlike yourself comes from being tired. Make rest non-negotiable and let your body do the work it's built to do.
13. Most things are out of your control
People, timing, setbacks, the weather — none of it is yours to manage. Focus your energy where it matters: your choices, your boundaries, your effort, your actions.
14. Be open to things not going as planned
Life rarely follows the script. When you leave space for the unexpected, you release the pressure for everything to be perfect.
15. Protect your time
It's the most expensive currency you have. Give it to the people and priorities that support your life, not the ones that pull from it.
16. Holding a grudge only weighs you down
When resentment sticks, it's usually pointing you to something inside that needs care. Listen to what hurts, then choose what gives you peace.
17. Step outside the comfort you've outgrown
Comfort can feel safe, but it also holds you still. The unfamiliar is where you meet the next version of yourself.
18. Try new things that spark excitement
Learning something new expands your world and shows you a side of yourself you haven't met yet. Even a short-lived hobby can change you.
19. Seek stories, art, and beauty
Let yourself picture new worlds, new colors, new lives. Stretch your mind beyond what you already know. Creativity grows when you give it something to play with.
20. When in doubt, go outside
Nature resets your perspective. Fresh air, real ground, open sky. Let the world remind you that life is bigger and gentler than what's in your head.
21. Move to feel strong
Movement makes life easier to live. Walk, lift, stretch, play — it all counts. Strength grows from the choices you make to care for your body every day.
22. Your body is your forever home
It carries every version of you you've ever been, and the ones you've yet to meet. Honor it for everything it makes possible.
23. Feed your body like you want to feel
What you eat becomes your energy, your clarity, and your mood. Nourish yourself like it matters, because it does.
24. Compliment others
When you notice something good in someone, tell them. Send the message. Speak up in the moment. It can change their day. Sometimes even their life.
25. Introduce new people into your life
You deserve relationships that feel like alignment. Make room for the people who energize you, respect you, and grow with you.
26. Small goals build momentum
The big dream is just the destination. What actually gets you there are the small, almost forgettable habits you repeat. That's where progress happens.
