Edges: What are yours?

Edges: What are yours?

There is a point in every change where you reach an edge.

Edges: What are yours?

An edge is the place where the life you know meets the life you say you want. Your edges show you what you believe — and meeting them is how you grow.

Where edges show up

You can have an edge around money. Around love. Around being seen. Around asking for more. Around charging more. Around receiving help. Around resting without feeling guilty. Around saying no. Around leaving. Around beginning again. Around admitting that you want something much bigger than the life you've allowed yourself to imagine so far.

And edges can feel surprisingly uncomfortable. You might procrastinate. Pick a fight. Suddenly decide the idea wasn't very good anyway. Convince yourself you need another qualification. Find seventeen reasons why now isn't the right time.

You might look at someone already doing what you want to do and decide there's something different about her. But what if nothing has gone wrong? What if you've simply reached an edge?

You are worthy. Nothing is wrong with you.

One of the most important things I've learned through changing my own life is this: You are worthy. You are powerful. You are capable. You are good enough. And nothing is wrong with you.

Read that again. Because so much personal development starts from the premise that we need to fix ourselves. Become more disciplined. More confident. More productive. More healed. More spiritual. More successful. Then, perhaps, we'll finally become worthy of the thing we want.

I don't believe that's how it works. You don't become worthy when you earn more money. You don't become worthy when somebody chooses you. You don't become worthy when you've lost the weight, built the business, found the relationship, bought the house or achieved the goal.

Your worth was never conditional. The work is learning to stop making it conditional.

Your edge will show you what you believe

Imagine you decide you want to double your income. At first, it feels exciting. Then another voice appears. People like me don't earn that much. Who would pay me that? What if people think I've changed? What if I fail? What if I actually succeed and then can't sustain it?

There's your edge. The goal didn't create those beliefs. It revealed them.

Or perhaps your edge is love. You say you want a deeply loving relationship, but when somebody gets close you pull away. Perhaps you want a different career, but every time an opportunity appears you convince yourself you're not experienced enough. Perhaps you want to build something of your own, but being visible feels terrifying.

Pay attention to the place where excitement becomes resistance. There's information there.

The next version of you lives beyond your current edges

Think about the version of you who is already living the life you want. How does she think? What does she believe she is available for? What does she no longer tolerate? What conversations does she have? What opportunities does she say yes to? What does she believe about money? How does she allow herself to be treated? How does she spend her time? How does she walk into a room?

She isn't necessarily smarter than you. She isn't more deserving than you. She hasn't somehow been selected by the universe while you were overlooked. She's you — with different beliefs, different standards and different choices.

And you don't have to transform into her overnight. You move towards her every time you meet one of your edges and choose not to retreat automatically.

Notice. Face. Choose.

This is why Balanse starts with awareness. Notice. Face. Choose.

Notice the thought. Face what it's really telling you. Then choose again.

Instead of Who am I to do this? try: Why not me?

Instead of I'm not ready, try: What would ready-enough look like today?

Instead of I can't do that, try: What would I do next if I believed I could?

And then do one small thing. Send the email. Post the idea. Make the call. Say the thing. Raise the price. Set the boundary. Ask the question. Apply. Begin.

Your life expands when your capacity to meet your edges expands. Not because fear disappears. Because fear stops making all your decisions.

So today, ask yourself: Where am I at an edge right now?

And instead of treating that discomfort as evidence that you should turn around, consider another possibility. Maybe you're standing at the entrance to your next life.

Key Takeaway

Try it in Balanse: Open your Reflections and write down one thing you really want, the belief that appears when you imagine having it, and one action the version of you who already believed she was worthy would take today. And then ask Coach about your reflection.

You don't need to become someone else. You might simply need to stop abandoning the woman you're becoming.
